  • In preparation for my next CC@CC’s Event on Saturday, September 24th featuring ILLUSIONS  here’s a little lagniappe…
  • ILLUSIONS by Pamela Leigh Starr

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Multicultural RT Rating

Asa Taylor is starting a new job. Because of her diabetes, she must maintain a strict schedule for meals and snacks. During an interview with Zain Darby, she marvels that he understands. Her cousin, employed by the same company, had told her that Zain is a tyrant. Asa soon learns that her interviewer is her new boss business partner, who is leaving for an extended honeymoon.

On her first day of work, Zain doesn’t understand Asa’s insistence that she leave at scheduled times for breaks and lunch. He believes her behavior is symptomatic of substance abuse problems.

Reluctantly his concern for her grows to the point where he attends Al-Anon meetings so he may help her with her problem. Asa assumes he knows of her condition and finds herself falling for the boss that she hates, despite his erratic behavior.

Illusions gives the reader an in-depth look into the life of a diabetic without her illness overpowering the romance. A very well written and captivating story! (Oct., 383 pp., $8.95)

Sunday Evening Lagniappe- ( A LITTLE SOMETHING EXTRA)

Excerpt from IRONIC- Chapter 3- “Teresa’s eyes blinked open.  The sound of a sputtering engine coming from somewhere drew her to the window.  Peering out, she saw only the whirlwind of snow.  Snow! Real snow!  Seeing the snow momentarily distracted her from the reason she had gotten up to begin with.  That noise.  She  heard it again.  It was coming from outside, and it didn’t sound good.  Something was definitely wrong.”

        • Wonder how that’s going?
        • Let’s take a peek…
        • IRONIC- an excerpt : “Easing into the soft leather of the recliner, she sighed.  A moment later, she reached for the book she had planned to finish reading.  An end to a perfect day filled with giant dogs, grumpy neighbors, strenuous exercise, and pure mountain air.  Her hand lazily hit the side table with a soft thump and glided across the smooth surface, only to fail in its mission.  No book.  It wasn’t there.  She must have left it in the Jeep.  Teresa distinctly remembered thinking about putting the book on the table.  she had even pictured herself in the chair, in this exact same position, but with the book in her hand.  Her aching muscles didn’t want her to move, but the characters in the book were yelling for her to find them.  Zain had finally found out Asa’s secret, only to think the worse.  Teresa had to get up.  Zain and Asa would have it no other way.”

What book are you reading that would have the characters bossing you around and dragging you in no matter what you were doing because they knew that it’s all about reading to - Laissez le Bon temp rouler (Lazay Lay Bon Tom Roulay) Let the good times roll!
